Nas drops his new single from “Life Is Good”, produced by No ID. The track began building buzz for Nas again, as it is what we all want from Nas; the retrospect, the lyricism, and dope beat to hear him spit knowledge. Plus, its a relateable topic, most men who consider themselves players end up with daughters, call that karma. Listen below.
In case you weren’t in the New York City area last week, precisely on Wednesday night, you may have missed on one of the best live shows this month. Upcoming West coast rapper Casey Veggies performed songs off his mixtape trilogy “Customized Greatly”, he also brought out Rockie Fresh to perform with him. After their set, came out Roc Nation’s newest signee Rita Ora, who really had an amazing presence on the stage (and is a really sweet person). Her set was live, she surprised me as I didn’t know how well she could sing.
There’s alot I could say about this show, the energy and anticipation was crazy. Young Guru also DJ’ed giving SOBs a great atmosphere prior to the two performances. Industry people were everywhere and everyone was just enjoying the night.
It was an awesome show, we have the recap for you part of SOBsTV, which includes some backstage footage, shortened interview with both Casey Veggies & Rita Ora (we’ll try to post full interviews soon)
MGK’s “Wild Boy” gets the remix treatment that includes almost everyone that performed at SXSW this year. There are a few artist who I think fit perfect for the song. 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, and Mystikal all served up the right energy, while I don’t believe French Montana and Yo Gotti added much to the song. This does seem to have been a fun video too shoot. MGK also delivers a new verse but I think he should have had Waka Flocka on this remix also (in my opinion). Anyways, the video does have a funny intro, so its worth at least one look. (Did I mention a cameo by Steve-O?)
Kid Cudi is back with a new track released through his twitter account. While I am glad that he is back to rapping, I am not a fan of this one. The song title is quite ridiculous too lol. But its produced by Kid Cudi, himself. Check it out below.
Usher drops a new single that has signs of being another hit. As “Climax” still getting alot of radio play he has got another one for the clubs. Expect to hear this one in any party with a dance floor. I prefer Climax, but this has got a good feel to it. Listen below.
Top Dwag Entertainment is one of the new labels to keep an eye out coming straight out the West Coast. The roster featuring Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. Recently, it was announced that TDE will be parterning with Interscope Records giving the label a bigger stature. So far everyone in the roster has had an official release, now its Ab-Soul’s turn who has often made appearance in his labelmates releases. In anticipation to his project, he released this song featuring Schoolboy Q which uses the title of the Stop Online Piracy Act. It sounds like rebel music and has some hard hitting drums.
Ab-Soul will be dropping “Control System” on May 11th, check out this song until then.
Remember when G-Unit was the biggest thing popping in the mixtape world?!? Hmm, probably not, but I do. Those were the days, when mixtapes were bought and really good. The G-Unit Radio series ran by DJ Whoo Kid was always something to look forward to every few weeks or months. Nowadays, its oversaturated, mixtapes have become redudant and often come out whenever. So its interesting to hear that 50 Cent is running a G-Unit 2.0 campaign (similiar to Shady 2.0 lol), and came out with his Big 10 last year, and now he has his artist Precious Paris releasing her mixtape. “From Paris With Love” sounds like a fitting title, the girl can rap and I do feel like there is a lane for her in G-Unit. 50 doesn’t make an apperance in the video which does give her a chance to shine. This track shows that Everything Ok in G-Unit, so download the mixtape and check out the video below.
The last signee to Bad Boys Records drops the visual to one of his standout tracks from “The Crown Ain’t Safe”. While there isn’t anything visually stunning in the video, it does give a chance for Los to flaunt walking around the town. I do feel that Los has alot of bars and has to work more on song writing, I do like this one. He also brings along Lola Monroe (who I didn’t know was rapping), who is now part of Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang, and its interesting to hear her rap. Not gonna say that she impressed me, but she is still eye candy though. Check out the video below.
