Charlene Kaye – Animal Love I (Official Music Video)

So i just saw this video and it follows this new idea of doing videos in one shot, and well, it is really awesome and kind of reminds me of The Death Cab video for You Are a Tourist. I would probably classify Charlene Kaye as some really good indie pop. The video only fits her vibe better, it feels original, and authentic. Strictly focusing on the song the indie pop is complemented by some surf rock tones in the guitar which actually give it a summery feel that you wouldn’t expect. By the second chorus I knew all the words. Really really catchy stuff. The song kind of reminds me of mixing Dale and The Deltones with Madonna, Katy Perry, and Foster The People. Yeah i know crazy combo but honestly you can hear a little bit of everyone in it. Charlene Kaye will also be playing SOBs tomorrow night so if you dig the video you’d be making a mistake to not come. See you here. enjoy.

Where has Jay Electronica been?? (Rapper Sighting)

by Juan Navarro

Jay Electronica re-appears out of nowhere in this brand new commercial for New Balance’s Excellent Makers. While I understand everything that he expresses about “creation”, it does make me feel like Kanye in that Kobe Bryant commercial “What the F*ck does that mean Jay Electronica” (Kobe Systems Kanye West) . So while we’re still waiting for excellence to happen in form of an album (maybe a mixtape or EP), at least we can see that Jay has been working on music and has a great perspective on life. Hopefully his Roc Nation debut will see the light of day soon.

Marcus Manchild – Problems Feat. Bun B

You may find the name Marcus Manchild a bit familiar and it is probably because he rocked the fuck out of a sold out show at SOBs opening up for 2Chainz. Today we have “Problems” off of Marcus’s upcoming mixtape “Space Jams 2″ featuring none other than the southern legend Bun B. Both go in hard about some of the problems they have had in their lives lately and both murder their verses. Marcus Manchild is a beast to look out for, his flow is on point, and his swagger is untouchable. This is a track you don’t want to miss.

Curren$y & Styles P “#The1st28″ (New Music)

by Juan Navarro

Curren$y is someone who I have respect for his work ethic. He has steadily kept his fans pleased by providing them with that “high” lifestyle music. Even through his tribulations of labels (things didn’t work out for him in Young Money, before the label was signing everyone in the world -_-), he stayed determined and continued to drop mixtapes. In an unsual move, he delivers this collaboration with Styles P? The Ghost is one of the most consitent MCs, maybe not one of the most popular but at least as he considers himself, the hardest. In that sense, it makes sense for them to work together; a good consistent project is the result. The small EP/Mixtape tracklist below, with download link included. Let us know what you think.

“DoYaThing” Official Video – Gorillaz featuring Andre 3000 and James Murphy

Well first I would like to take a second to thank converse for putting perhaps my favorite collaboration of the year together. For some reason I never thought about the Gorrilaz and 3 Stacks fitting together but god damn they fit together perfect. Today converse released the music video for the collaboration between Gorillaz, Andre, and James Murphy titled DoYaThing. And wow, these guys do their thing. With an expected Gorillaz production, nice vocals from James, and a 64 bar verse from Andre 3000 you cannot really go wrong. While I was not a huge fan of what 3 stacks put out this past year this sure as hell makes up for it. It has that Outkast flow and of course is lyrically on point (he never seems to miss it there). Anyway enjoy this shit is crazy.

Schoolboy Q x Ab-Soul “Druggys Wit Hoes Again”

by Juan Navarro

Schoolboy Q drops another video for “Druggys Wit Hoes Again”. I gotta admit out of the newer MC’s, he is one of my favorite, I am actually upset that he didn’t make the XXL Freshmen cover. He reps for the West Coast and is lyrically more capable then some of those in that cover (Possible slander?). “Habits and Contradictions” is a good start-up that presents his talent and leaves you wanting to know where he will advance to. Cop it out below if you haven’t already.
